The underlying instruments of futures contracts can be shares or commodities. In many cases, the items may be such non-traditional "commodities" as foreign currencies, commercial or government paper such as bonds, shares, stock indices, or other financial instruments. Cash-settled and physically delivered futures contracts on commodities are traded at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited. At the stock exchanges, futures contracts on single stocks as well as stock index are traded.
